RainbowJam 2019 - Gay Mail

Thought I'd post some screenshots from my Rainbow Jam submission. VERY delayed as I was moving to Norway at the time, game still needs to be packaged but I'm heading home to my family for a bit. Will update so y'all can play it when I'm back!
UPDATE!: Game now playable! https://alextaylor.itch.io/gaymail

You play as a mail carrier and send letters of love and support to NPCs as you explore their tiny world <3

Made in UE4, I wanted to go for a more PS1-2 style that I was exploring in other works. Made use of vertex snapping on meshes, low res textures, and a clamped color grade.

Gay Mail Gameplay

These were all of the assets I used for the entire level. I introduced variation through different lighting methods, different materials, and scaling them in interesting ways.

I developed a blueprint that would randomise each character, who they'd be in game and what colour they would be, as well as what sound they would make when it with a love letter.

In addition to this, I also opened up a text variable so they could give you sweet messages of support when you give them a letter!
